The Ed Brown Center has been a pillar of the community since 1987. We are dedicated to providing a vibrant and inclusive space for older adults to engage in various activities and socialize. Our focus is on promoting an active lifestyle and fostering new connections. We aim to create a warm and friendly environment for seniors to thrive and build lasting friendships.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for older adults in Rancho Bernardo by offering a diverse range of programs and services designed to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. We are committed to creating an environment that encourages social interaction, personal growth, and community involvement.

We envision a welcoming and vibrant community where older adults in San Diego County can stay active, connected, and engaged. As the senior population grows, we’re committed to expanding our programs, creating new opportunities, and building strong partnerships to support their evolving needs. Our goal is to be a place where seniors can learn, socialize, and thrive—fostering a sense of purpose, belonging, and well-being for years to come.

Sue is a retired math teacher, presently volunteering actively for the San Diego Police
Department as a member of RSVP. She also devotes her time to EBC where she started a very popular Bridge Club and our Knitting Circle, as well as supporting SD Nari, a nonprofit organization for women. Her goal is to make seniors smile.

Lynn has been a Community Volunteer since moving to North County in 1978. She has been a member of the EBC Board of Directors since 2011, serving alternately as president, vice-president and secretary. During her tenure as Executive Director her goal has been to make EBC fiscally sound so that it can continue to offer much-needed programming for the senior community in Inland North County.

Community Volunteer and past Executive Director of the Ed Brown Senior Center, Marla has returned to EBC after a lengthy hiatus during which she served as Activities Director at Seacrest Village in Poway and worked in disaster relief for United Policyholders.

A recent addition to our Board of Directors, Rick has owned and operated a variety of
businesses – advertising, insurance and quality, health and safety consulting – ending his career as Vice-President of Quality, Security and Exports for a local computer company that supplied software products to the military and medical devices. He still serves as a consultant.
Rick Elliott
Director
Grace has worked in the healthcare industry for the better part of 40 years, retiring in 2023. During that time she also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Her skillset includes human resources, conflict resolution, safety and customer service.
Grade Liddi

John came to us after years of owning and operating a very successful company that printed textbooks and periodicals. He joined our Board of Directors with the goal of increasing our membership and fund raising. John is also an active member of the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club.
John Mullin

Maurice moved to San Diego from New York City in 2006 and has been an active member of the Ed Brown Senior Center ever since. To give back to his community he served as president of the Oaks North Community Center Tennis Club for three years, during which time he was involved in the construction of the pickleball courts. He also served as president of the local social wine club and was treasurer of his HOA. Maurice is an active member of EBC and currently manages the Monday Dance Party and Karaoke Sundays.

Thanks to Tim’s extensive background in economics, finances and program management, he has been instrumental in overseeing our financials so that we can remain fiscally sound. As Recreation Supervisor for Rancho Bernardo Community Park, LaTonya has fostered a cooperative culture between the Ed Brown Center, RB Tennis Club, the Stewart Glassman Recreation Center and other park user groups. As a long-time Parks and Recreation employee, her unique understanding of how to accomplish the impossible is invaluable.
